Description

Explore the Metropolitan Region of Santiago, the capital of Chile, on a guided tour. Visit the Museum of Memory and Human Rights, La Moneda, Santa Lucia Hill, and San Cristobal Mountain. Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant. Start your day with a pickup from your hotel and head to the Museum of Memory and Human Rights. Learn about the human rights violations committed by the Chilean State between 1973 and 1990. Dignify the victims and their families and stimulate reflection and debate on the importance of respect and tolerance. Next, visit La Moneda, the headquarters of the Chilean government and the office of the president. Admire the building's pure neoclassical style and an exceptional example of an architectural style and techniques typical of an entire stage of human history. Then, head to Santa Lucia Hill. Located steps from the civic center of Santiago, Cerro Santa Lucía is a historical and cultural icon of the city and the Metropolitan Region. The Mapuches called it Huelén, a word that in Mapudungún means melancholy, sadness, or pain. It is a hill of 69 meters high, covering 65,300 square meters. Originally it was a wild rock that was used as a viewpoint because from its top there was a panoramic view of the territory. After the arrival of the Spanish, Pedro de Valdivia renamed it Santa Lucía and founded the city of Santiago at its feet on February 12, 1541. Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, head to San Cristóbal Mountain. Cerro San Cristóbal is the largest park in Santiago and one of its emblematic attractions. Take in the views of the city before returning to your hotel.
