Description

Day 1: We will begin our exciting journey with a visit to the Train Cemetery, where we will see the old locomotives lying in repose. We will then head to the community of Colchani, the gateway to the salt flat, where we will be able to see rustic handicraft workshops and witness the micro-processing process of table salt. Continuing our tour of the majestic Salar de Uyuni, we will make stops to observe the extraction of salt, the 'eyes of the salt' and the Playa Blanca Salt Hotel, now a museum. Afterwards, we will explore Incahuasi Island, the most outstanding island of the Salar, where we will enjoy a walk among large cacti, marine rock fossils and 360° panoramic views from the lookout point. At the end of the day, we will head back to our salt lodge to rest. Day 2: After a delicious breakfast in our salt lodge, we will depart for the Ollague Volcano viewpoint, where we will enjoy the volcanic desert landscape and the sparse high Andean vegetation. We will continue visiting the high altitude lagoons, such as Laguna Chiarkota, Laguna Hedionda, Laguna Onda and Laguna Ramaditas, home to flamingos that use these lagoons as feeding and resting spots during their migratory movements. We will enjoy lunch en route as we explore the Siloé Desert, home to the curious Stone Tree. Continue to the impressive Laguna Colorada, known for its reddish colour. In the evening, we will have dinner and stay in a family-run community lodge in the village of Huayllajara. Day 3: We will start the day early with breakfast and head to the fumaroles and cracks in the earth, where we will be able to observe volcanic lava and sulphurous gases. We will continue to the Polques hot springs, thermal waters beneficial for the healing of arthritis, where we will be able to take a relaxing bath. Afterwards, we will explore the Salvador Dali desert, which offers breathtaking panoramic views and landscapes that look like something out of a work by the famous surrealist painter. Our next destination will be Laguna Verde, with its characteristic colour due to its high mineral content, located at the foot of the imposing Licancabur volcano. Finally, we will head back to the town of Uyuni, making stops to visit Villa Mar, the Valley of Rocks, the picturesque village of San Cristobal with its stone church, and we will conclude our journey in the town of Uyuni.
