Description

Start: The first day begins at 07:00 with pick up at your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama. End: The fourth day ends at 18:00 in the center or bus terminal of San Pedro de Atacama (however, this ending time could be altered due to weather conditions or other unforeseen events, so it is recommended to schedule your departure from San Pedro de Atacama for the next day after the end of the tour). Day 1: The day will start with the pick up at your hotel to go to the border crossing between Chile and Bolivia. Once there, we will complete the customs formalities and begin the tour, which will include a visit to the Verde and Blanca lagoons, as well as the Polques hot springs. Afterwards, we will head towards the Sol de Mañana geysers and the Colorada lagoon before arriving at our lodging place. Day 2: Our day will begin early in the morning, departing to a series of lagoons located in the highlands of the Andes. We will visit the Cachi, Honda and Chiarkota lagoons, where we will have the opportunity to admire their impressive landscapes. We will make additional stops at the Hedionda and Cañapa lagoons, ideal for taking pictures and stretching our legs after the drive. Finally, we will stop at the Chiguana salt flat before heading to our hotel for dinner and rest. Day 3: We will wake up early to witness the sunrise over the Uyuni Salt Flat from a strategic location. After this natural spectacle, we will begin a tour of the vast white landscape of the salt flat until we reach Incahuasi Island. Here, we will explore its trails and ascend to the highest part to enjoy a 360° panoramic view of the salt flat. Afterwards, we will visit the Salt Museum and the Dakar monument before leaving the salt flat and heading to the town of Colchani. Along the way, we will stop at the Train Cemetery to explore and take pictures. Finally, we will continue our journey to the hotel to rest. Day 4: Similar to the standard itinerary of the Salar de Uyuni tour (4 days), this day focuses solely on the return from Uyuni. We will start early from the hotel to make our way back to the border. Once there, we will complete the necessary customs formalities and then continue the trip to San Pedro de Atacama, where the tour will end. Note: The pick-up service is not available for accommodations located outside the urban area of San Pedro de Atacama, as well as for those in the nearby towns of Quitor, Yaye, Checar, Sequitor, Solor and Coyo, nor for Toconao. Altiplanic winter: During the months of January to April, the climatic phenomenon known as altiplanic winter occurs, characterized by rains in the central Andes. For this reason, it is possible that there may be changes in the above itinerary: Instead of staying at Hotel Tayka de Piedra, you will stay overnight at Hotel Luna Salada or a similar establishment in Uyuni. The visit to Incahuasi Island could be omitted, since during the altiplanic winter there is a greater accumulation of water in this place.
