Quellon and the South of the Island
Los Lagos Region
Hiking. One of the most developed activities in this part of the island is hiking around its parks. There are two parks. The most important and well known is Parque Tantauco, with 118 hectares and trails for all tastes: from short 30-minute trails to walks lasting several days, as camping areas have been set up. Punta de Lapas and the landmark of the Pan-American route. In the area of Punta de Lapas, where there is a beach of about 5 km, you can also find the landmark where the Panamerican route begins or ends.
Quellón, Chiloé, Chile
Nearby villages. Around Quellón there are several nearby towns to visit. One that had been recommended to us is Quellón Viejo, with a cemetery, a church and several characters to engage in interesting conversations.
Also, if you travel to Chiloé Island, be sure to try some of Chiloé's cuisine. You will find curanto a la cacerola and al hoyo, many dishes with edible algae, the chilota casserole, a variety of potatoes and yoco.
