Description
Discover the essence of southern Chile by exploring native forests, turquoise rivers, and lakeside towns marked by German influence, on a scenic experience where lakes and volcanoes dominate the horizon for much of the route.
Designed for travelers looking for an intimate and authentic way to discover the Lake District, the tour combines landscapes, local history, lakeside culture, exploration, and photography at a relaxed and contemplative pace.
The experience begins its scenic route in Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, following roads surrounded by forests with views of the Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes. The first stop will be at Saltos del Petrohué, where you can walk along trails and visit vantage points to admire the emerald-colored waters of the Petrohué River as they flow through ancient volcanic rock formations. You'll also be able to explore two easy trails and admire one of the most breathtaking natural landscapes in southern Chile.
We then continue to Todos los Santos Lake, where the Petrohué River originates. Here, you'll have the option to board a catamaran for a scenic cruise surrounded by mountains, forests, and volcanoes that make up one of the most spectacular lake environments in Northern Chilean Patagonia.
We'll then continue to Puerto Varas, where you'll stroll along its waterfront, visit vantage points, and explore historic areas with prime views of Lake Llanquihue and the Osorno Volcano, while discovering the influence of the German settlers who shaped the city's cultural and architectural identity.
Later, we'll visit Llanquihue, an old lakeside town where the Maullín River originates, allowing us to experience a more authentic and serene side of lakeside life.
At our last stop, we'll visit Frutillar, renowned for its heritage architecture, gardens, and lakeside cafés that create a unique atmosphere. Here, you'll have free time for lunch, to browse local shops, to enjoy the area's cuisine, and to optionally visit the German Colonial Museum and the Teatro del Lago, or simply to stroll and take pictures by the lake.
This experience is ideal for travelers who want to explore the Lake Llanquihue basin through its landscapes, heritage, and local culture. Throughout the day, you'll visit some of the most iconic places in the Lake District, combining nature, regional history, and moments of contemplation, accompanied by the explanations and recommendations of our tour guide to better understand the identity and traditions that characterize this part of southern Chile.
