Description

️ Route to San Isidro Lighthouse: A Journey to the End of the World The route to the San Isidro Lighthouse is one of the most impressive journeys in Chilean Patagonia, combining history, nature and adventure in a wild environment. Starting point: Punta Arenas From Punta Arenas, take Route 9 South to the south, bordering the Strait of Magellan. After about 70 km, the paved road ends in the Punta Arbol sector, where the hike to the lighthouse begins. Coastal Trekking: 4 km of Pure Nature The trail to the San Isidro Lighthouse is approximately 4 km long and follows the coast through mixed terrain, where travelers will walk through: Boulder beaches: The route runs largely along the sea, offering spectacular views of the Strait of Magellan and, on clear days, Dawson Island. Sub-Antarctic Forests: Along the way, you pass through areas of lenga and coigües, with hanging mosses and lichens, creating a magical atmosphere. Wildlife: Along the way it is possible to see cormorants, sea lions and even dolphins playing in the water. Final Destination: San Isidro Lighthouse After approximately 1.5 to 2 hours of walking, you will arrive at the iconic San Isidro Lighthouse, a historic construction from 1904 that marks the last continental point before entering the southern waters. From here, the view of the open sea and mountains is simply breathtaking. ️ Tips for the Route. ✅ Wear waterproof and windproof clothing (the weather is very changeable). ✅ Wear footwear suitable for walking on slippery terrain. ✅ Plan the hike at low tide to avoid flooded areas. ✅ Carry water and snacks, as there are no services along the route. ✨ A unique experience for lovers of trekking, history and adventure in Patagonia - dare to explore the last continental lighthouse before the end of the world!
