Description
We will begin our tour by picking up participants in the center of the city to head west of San Pedro de Atacama. Our first stop will be at Yerbas Buenas, an area of great historical importance that houses one of the most outstanding petroglyphs in the region. This site was transited by indigenous caravans from northeastern Argentina and the Bolivian Altiplano on their way to the Pacific Ocean. Here, we will marvel at a variety of rock carvings and drawings representing llamas, camelids, birds, monkeys and dogs, among others.
Next, we will head to the impressive Rainbow Valley. During a hike of approximately one hour each way, we will explore this unique place, characterized by an incredible variety of colors in the rocks. These vibrant hues are the result of the presence of various minerals in the composition of the rock formations, which gives this spectacular landscape its name.
After receiving a brief explanation from our guide and having time to take pictures, we will head to the picturesque area of the Salado River. Here, we will enjoy a walk to appreciate the beautiful scenery formed in this small valley. Once this exciting tour is completed, we will return to San Pedro de Atacama, where our activity will conclude.
