Description
Can you imagine reaching a place where the ecosystem is practically untouched in Patagonia? Unlike national parks that are already impacted by the construction of hotels, shelters, and camping areas, the area we’ll be visiting remains minimally impacted. This is a trek along the Strait of Magellan to reach the last lighthouse on the American continent, a place where nature still preserves its purest essence.
The tour starts from your accommodation (urban area), and the pick-up time is between 8:00 and 8:30 am. We’ll head south (70 km) along Route 9 to reach Punta Árbol.
On the way, if you need heating or air conditioning, just let us know, and our team will be happy to assist you. We want you to be comfortable and enjoy the experience to the fullest.
Once at Punta Árbol, we’ll begin the hike towards the San Isidro Lighthouse. The trail is approximately 5.5 km long, and you’ll walk along a pebble beach of the Strait of Magellan.
The one-way hike will take about 2 hours, during which we’ll identify the flora and fauna of Patagonia. It’s possible to spot dolphins and/or whales. The estimated time is for a standard walking pace. If you have any special requests, such as taking photos or if you’re interested in a particular topic, please let us know in advance, and we’ll see if we can accommodate it. Our goal is for you to take away a memorable experience.
Finally, we’ll arrive at the San Isidro Lighthouse, where we’ll have a panoramic view of the Strait of Magellan, Dawson Island, the Darwin Mountain Range, and the Brunswick Peninsula in all its splendor, if weather conditions allow.
Once at the San Isidro Lighthouse, we’ll make a stop of approximately 30 to 40 minutes to eat, hydrate, and enjoy the surroundings. If you need more time, please let the guide know, and we’ll assess the request.
Finally, we’ll return along the same route to reach Punta Árbol, visit the Geographical Landmark of Chile (optional), and then head back to Punta Arenas.
Important: If you wish to explore the area further, send us a message to make the necessary adjustments.
Lastly, to ensure efficient communication during the tour, please make sure to provide us with your contact details, preferably with a WhatsApp number, so we can keep you informed at all times.
