Description

Discover the most traditional and typical locations of Punta Arenas on a guided city tour. Be in the middle of nature and appreciate a panoramic view of the entire city on a walk through the Magallanes Forest Park. Start your tour with a visit to the Magallanes National Reserve. Admire the beautiful landscapes that give rise to a varied vegetation. In the reserve, take a one-hour walk where you can see flora and fauna. See a variety of shrubs such as el calafate, romerillo, michay, and sarsaparilla. Associated with them, see a significant number of herbs and plants that bloom colorfully in spring. Next, head to the Plaza Muñoz Gamero, also known as Plaza de Armas. This public space is located in the city of Punta Arenas and was declared a Typical Zone in 1991. Continue to the Cerro de la Cruz, a landmark of special importance because its height allows views of the city, the Strait, and Tierra del Fuego Island. From the Cerro de la Cruz viewpoint, obtain a wide panoramic view of the city with its multicolored roofs, the Strait of Magellan, Mount Sarmiento, and the southern area of the Brunswick peninsula. Finally, visit the Sara Braun Palace, a historic building in the Chilean city of Punta Arenas. It is located in front of the renowned Plaza Muñoz Gamero and was built between 1895 and 1905 to the design of the French architect Numa Mayer. In 1981, it was declared a historical monument by the Council of National Monuments.
