Description

On the Magdalena Island Cruise, you will see Magellanic penguins, which measure between 50 and 70 cm, are extraordinary swimmers, and spend much of their lives in the water. They can be found from Tierra del Fuego to southern Brazil. There are numerous colonies in Patagonia, the most notable of which is the colony on Magdalena Island. There, more than 150,000 of these friendly penguins gather, which we will see on our Magdalena Island Navigation excursion. We will board a ferry with a large upper deck for passengers and begin our navigation to Magdalena Island to visit the Magellanic or Patagonian penguin. For approximately two hours, we will enjoy the landscape that will take us into the heart of the Strait of Magellan until we reach Magdalena Island. Once we arrive at the Magdalena Island pier, we will disembark and visit the penguin colony for approximately one hour. We will walk to the old lighthouse, where we will admire a spectacular view of the landscape. After this, we will board again, but this time to begin the return trip to the Punta Arenas pier. Finally, passengers will be transported to their hotel in the city, provided they have purchased the Magdalena Island Navigation with transfer. Other passengers will be dropped off at the Tres Puentes Pier. It is very important to keep in mind that this activity may be affected by weather conditions, so it is not advisable to choose the Magdalena Island Cruise for the last day of your visit to Patagonia, in order to be able to reschedule the activity if the weather does not allow the boat to depart.
