Experience high altitude hiking on this tour and climb Mount Toco – one of the most famous peaks in San Pedro de Atacama. Just 6km from the border between Chile and Bolivia, Cerro Toco is so imposing that it can be seen from the ground or enjoyed from the summit. This extinct volcano is much less visited than its famous nearby cousins, Licancabur and Lascar, despite offering equally astonishing views. Its ascent is also a solid level of hiking and gives the same sense of accomplishment when you reach its summit as with any mountain in the surrounding Andes mountain range. After traversing the trails at 5,600 m (18,700 ft), take a moment to delight in the mountain scenery, appreciating Laguna Blanca and the spectacular view of the Salar de Atacama. Then we gradually descend back to the vehicle and head back.
