Aquitania Winery
Viña Aquitania in its 33 years of history is recognized for producing grapes in two unique Terroirs in Chile from which high quality, elegant and great identity wines originate.
The founders looked for a place known for its history and quality of wines for Viña Aquitania. They planted the vineyard in the foothills of Cerro San Ramón, this being the first mountain range of the Andes Mountains from West to East.
The vineyard is located at more than 700 meters of altitude and is characterized by a soil of alluvial-colluvial origin, stony and poor, with a thin layer of clayey silt with low organic matter content. This soil allows very good water infiltration which helps the development of roots in depth.
The climate of this terroir is influenced by hot days in summer, where temperatures can reach 33ºC, with cold nights of 13º to 15ºC.
This great difference in temperatures is due to the fact that during the night from the summit of Cerro San Ramón, at 3253 meters, very cold winds descend towards the vineyard giving a thermal amplitude of 15 to 20ºC, which helps a lot to preserve the aromas and the freshness of our Cabernet Sauvignon.
This place represents a frost-free climatic zone, with good solar exposure with no rain during the grape ripening and harvesting season. There is enough water to irrigate throughout the growth of the vines, which makes this place a magnificent terroir.
