The mall (Chileans use the same word!) is an important part of Chilean life, especially on weekends where it becomes a family affair. All major cities in Chile have a mall, which can be useful especially on weekends when other shops close.

Most malls have department stores as anchor stores, and well as much smaller chain and boutique stores. You can also find cinemas, bowling, and food courts in most Chilean malls for your enjoyment. Be aware that these malls close for the following public holidays - New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, May 1, September 19, and Christmas Day.
