Description

With an extension of 5,030 hectares, its unique landscape is home to a variety of flora and fauna species typical of the arid Patagonian steppe environment. Its main attractions are its lands covered by basaltic lava, which determines its geological characteristics and the life that lives there. Get to know the Escorial del Diablo, Pozos del Diablo, Laguna Ana and other unmissable spots. Departing from Punta Arenas, with our Full Day Pali Aike Park you will make a trekking of approximately 3 hours to know all the places of interest of the park. Among the main attractions, we highlight the Pali Aike Cave, where evidence of Magellanic inhabitants have been found. However, other unmissable points are the Escorial del Diablo, La Morada del Diablo Crater, Pozos del Diablo and Laguna Ana. Pali Aike will impress you with its history and geological formations. Like a lunar landscape, you will be impressed by the geological formations of this beautiful place. Due to 3 periods of strong eruptions most of the terrain is volcanic lava, dominated by basaltic cones and lavas. 12,000 years ago the first humans arrived at this site, occupying as a shelter some airplanes. In addition to coexisting with the mega fauna of the time, some of these animals served as food for humans. It is worth mentioning that Pali Aike means desolate place or place of evil spirits, in the Tehuelche language (aonikenk). For this reason, its lands are full of stories, starring prehistoric animals such as the mylodon, aonikenk natives, explorers, ranchers and scientists.
