Description
Covering 5,030 hectares, Pali Aike National Park features a unique landscape shaped by volcanic activity. Its basaltic lava fields support diverse flora and fauna typical of the arid Patagonian steppe.
The park's main attractions include Escorial del Diablo, Pozos del Diablo, Laguna Ana, and the Pali Aike Cave, where evidence of early Magellanic inhabitants has been discovered. The terrain resembles a lunar landscape due to three major volcanic eruptions that created basaltic cones and lava flows.
Approximately 12,000 years ago, the first humans inhabited this area, coexisting with now-extinct megafauna, some of which provided sustenance. The name 'Pali Aike' reflects local indigenous beliefs, adding cultural and historical depth to the visit.
