Description

From Carrera Bay, we start sailing through the Francisco Coloane Marine Park, where you will have the opportunity to see majestic humpback whales, as well as cormorants, skuas, petrels, albatrosses, sea lions and elephant seals, all in an impressive Patagonian scenery surrounded by mountains, glaciers and lush forests. When we arrive at Shag Pass, we will get into kayaks to paddle with the whales. We have specialized and professional tour guides that will guarantee a safe and unique experience. In addition, a support boat will accompany us at all times for peace of mind. Itinerary: 03:45 - Check-in at the hotel and transfer to the travel agency. 04:05 - Arrival and check-in at the agency. 04:20 - Transfer to the embarkation point, located 50 km south of Punta Arenas. 05:00 - Boarding at Carrera Bay. 05:15 - Start of navigation, visiting several points of interest: Fort Bulnes Founded in 1843 by Captain John Williams after taking possession of the Strait of Magellan, in honor of President Manuel Bulnes. San Isidro Lighthouse This lighthouse, the southernmost in the American continent, has more than 100 years of history. Surrounded by sub-Antarctic forests, it is home to dolphins, sea lions and unique marine fauna. Mount Tarn In 1834, Charles Darwin ascended Mount Tarn during his expedition on the HMS Beagle, discovering the first ammonites in South America, ancient mollusks with coiled shells. Indian Bay Located 75 km south of Punta Arenas, it was the site of a whale oil processing plant. Today it is home to a growing population of humpback whales in the region. Cape Froward 90 km south of Punta Arenas, this cape is home to the Cross of the Seas, a tribute to sailors. It was named by the English privateer Thomas Cavendish because of the difficult waters. Carlos III Island Created in 2003, this park is a key biological corridor in the Strait of Magellan, where humpback whales feed and can be sighted during their season. Shag Passage Within the Francisco Coloane Marine Park, Paso Shag is a point of great concentration of humpback whales, ideal for the observation of these majestic animals. 08:00 - Entrance to Francisco Coloane Marine Park. 08:30 - Penguin watching from the boat deck. 09:00 - Navigation from Rupert Island to Charles Island and Paso Shag. 10:00 - Disembarkation from the catamaran to zodiac boats to kayak with the whales (duration: 3 hours). 13:00 - Return to the catamaran from the zodiac boats. 14:00 - Lunch on board. 17:00 - Disembarkation and transfer back to Punta Arenas. 18:00 - Arrival in Punta Arenas.
