Beliggende ikke mere end 50 kilometer fra det centrale Santiago, anses Rio Clarillo National Reserve for at være en af de eneste skove inden for Metropolitan Region. Reservatet spiller også en væsentlig rolle i beskyttelsen og bevarelsen af fugle som den patagoniske sierra-finch, tornet rayadito og den hvide toppede elaenia. Blandt dens 13.000 hektar er det muligt at finde tre forskellige trekkingstier: Quebrada Jorquera, Aliwén Mahuida og Arboretum.
