Det er et traditionelt boligkvarter i Santiago, som viser sine egne karakteristika i forhold til den modernitet, som andre kvarterer i byen viser. Det blev grundlagt med det navn til ære for sejren for United Restoration Army i Slaget ved Yungay den 20. januar 1839, i krigen mod Peru-Bolivianske Konføderation. Det mest berømte vartegn og udgangspunkt for turister er den tilsvarende plads, hvor Monumentet til Roto Chileno er placeret, som er en hyldest til byens chilenske.
