Description

Skip the drive-by bus tour. This day trip pairs the Laguna Azul viewpoint with a real (but easy) 45-minute hike to the base of the Cuernos del Paine — the middle ground between a panoramic tour and a full trekking day. Pickup is at 08:00 from your hotel in Puerto Natales. The first stop is Laguna Azul, where still water mirrors the Torres del Paine in the distance and ancient glacial moraines shape the landscape. Your bilingual guide, born and raised in Puerto Natales, will explain how the last Ice Age carved this valley. From there you'll continue to Salto Grande and begin a soft hike of about 45 minutes each way to Mirador Los Cuernos, on the shore of Lago Nordenskjöld. The trail is low-difficulty — suitable for anyone in reasonable health — and ends with a face-to-face view of the Cuernos del Paine, whose distinctive light-and-dark rock layers are among the most recognisable in Patagonia. Trekking poles are provided. Back at the vehicle, groups of 4 or more enjoy a Patagonian snack board before returning to Puerto Natales in the evening.
