Description
The tour starts at the local tourist dock where you board a modern boat. Sail across Ushuaia Bay and enter the Beagle Channel through Paso Chico. Navigate around Bird Island, home to Tierra del Fuego seabirds including skuas, black-browed albatrosses, steamer ducks, cauquenes, Cook’s seagulls, and gray seagulls.
Next, visit Sea Lion Island in the Bridges Archipelago, inhabited by two sea lion species. Arrive at Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, where imperial and rocky cormorant colonies are present. Learn about the 1930 SS Monte Cervantes shipwreck in this area.
Continue sailing east, surrounded by mountain landscapes, viewing Puerto Almanza on the Argentine coast and Puerto Williams Naval Base on the Chilean coast. Then, visit Martillo Island (Penguin Island) to observe colonies of Magellanic and Papua penguins. The tour ends returning to the dock in Ushuaia.
