Description

Embark on a challenging high-altitude trek to the summit of Cerro Guane Guane (5,095 m above sea level), a privileged natural vantage point located in the heart of Lauca National Park. This hike is designed for mountain and trekking enthusiasts looking to push themselves in a unique high-altitude environment, surrounded by volcanic landscapes, wetlands, and the impressive biodiversity of northern Chile.

The day begins with a strategic transfer from Putre to the Lauca National Park area, where we'll start the guided ascent along mountain trails over volcanic terrain. As we gain altitude, the physical effort is rewarded with increasingly spectacular views of the Cotacotani Lagoons complex.

When you reach the summit of Cerro Guane Guane, you'll have a truly unforgettable 360-degree view. From this strategic point, you'll have a head-on view of the majesty of the Payachatas snow-capped mountains (the Parinacota and Pomerape volcanoes) and the imposing Sajama Volcano on the border, providing a world-class photo opportunity and the satisfaction of reaching the summit of a high-altitude Altiplano peak.

Throughout the hike, we will maintain a controlled and safe pace of ascent, focused on acclimatization and the well-being of the group. Our experienced guides will be with you at all times, sharing their knowledge about the area's volcanic geology, the flora adapted to extreme conditions (such as llareta and paja brava), and the wildlife of the area, where it is common to spot vicuñas, alpacas, vizcachas, Andean condors, and some birds of prey.

This experience is ideal as an altitude trekking milestone or as a key acclimatization day for those looking to prepare themselves before tackling higher ascents and expeditions in the Andes.
