Description

The tour begins with a visit to Toconao, a small town known for its calm atmosphere, distinctive architecture, and local craftsmanship. Next, you will explore the Laguna Chaxa sector located in the Soncor area of Los Flamencos National Reserve, situated near the margins of the Salar de Atacama.

From there, the itinerary continues southeast towards the Andes to the high-altitude town of Socaire, where you'll visit its historic church and learn about local agricultural practices. The tour then proceeds to the Miscanti and Meñiques Lagoons, situated at approximately 4,200 meters above sea level. These lagoons are fed by groundwater from melting ice and are surrounded by volcanic formations including Cerro Miscanti and Volcano Meñiques.

The area is rich in wildlife, including species such as the Horned Coot, Flamingos, Andean Goose, Baird's Sandpiper, Puna Plover, Andean Duck, and the Guallata. Native vegetation includes Llareta and Paja Brava grasses.

Continuing along the foothills of the southern Andes, the tour reaches the Salar de Talar, commonly known as Piedras Rojas. The oxidized rocks in this area create striking red hues shaped by natural weathering and the Andean environment.
