Description
This half-day tour is the perfect chance to explore two of southern Chile's most iconic cities: Puerto Varas, known as the City of Roses, and Puerto Montt, the capital of the Lakes and Volcanoes Region.
The experience kicks off in Puerto Varas, a city with a unique charm, known for its colorful gardens and German-influenced architecture. Our tour kicks off with a stop at the waterfront, where you can soak in the panoramic views of the bay and the 'Aurora' sculpture, with the stunning Llanquihue Lake as a backdrop.
We'll check out the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (if it's open), a major landmark in the city, and then explore the Old Quarter, where the first German settlers shaped the area's culture and architecture.
We'll then skirt around Lake Llanquihue, the second-largest lake in Chile, and if the weather's nice, we'll get to see the awesome silhouette of the Osorno Volcano, whose glaciers constantly feed the lake, creating an unforgettable landscape.
Next, we'll head to Puerto Montt, just 20 kilometers south. This city is the connection between the continent and Patagonia, and a place with a lot of historical and cultural significance. The first stop will be at the city's highest point, where we'll get a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean and Tenglo Island, a natural setting that combines sea, islands, and mountains.
Later, we'll check out the Monument to the German Settlers, right across from Plaza de Armas, a symbol of the cultural heritage that shaped the local identity. We'll stroll along the waterfront and check out the mix of traditions and architectural styles that show how cultures have blended in the area.
To finish, we'll head to the charming Angelmó area, known all over Chile for its craft markets and fishing cove, where you can check out the daily life of the seafarers up close. Here, fishermen bring fresh seafood and fish that are then sold at the Angelmó Market, a place full of aromas, colors, and life.
