Maitencillo

Beaches
In the last century, Maitencillo was a distant town that was difficult to locate, since there are other towns with the same name in the national territory. The name Maitencillo comes, apparently, from the ranch of Los Maitenes, a small patch of land on the edge of a lagoon that lived by cutting the 'tomé' or reed. The then peaceful, pastoral and fishing life of Maitencillo was transformed in 1913 with the division of land. Most were sites with 20 meters of frontage that extended from the sea to the hill. Others were located at the top, which currently corresponds to the Marbella resort. Maitencillo is located 15 km from Puchuncaví and almost 70 km from Viña del Mar, it has the narrowest and widest coastal edge of the Puchuncaví commune, a mix of a country environment given by its pine and eucalyptus forests, with a paradisiacal place when choosing a vacation destination thanks to the 7 beaches that bathe its coast. In addition, it has an ideal waterfront for sports activities such as cycling, jogging or simply to enjoy a walk that at the end of the day can be combined with contemplation of beautiful sunsets. There are seven beaches that make up its coastal edge, among which Playa Chica and Playa Los Pocitos stand out, ideal for the little ones to enjoy and for the tranquility of their parents since both, due to their appearance, do not have waves. On the contrary, the El Abanico and Aguas Blanca beaches have robust waves ideal for sports activities such as body boarding and surfing. In addition to the named beaches, there are three others and no less important: Playa Grande, La Caleta and Los Pinos. Access to Maitencillo is via Highway 5 North (Vía Catapilco - Maitencillo) and Highway F 30 E (Viña del Mar, Concón, Puchuncaví, Maitencillo). Locomotion is varied, from Viña del Mar you can travel to this town with the Sol del Pacífico company or in buses that arrive at Quintero, in this case, at the intersection of this you transfer to another bus or bus. People traveling from Santiago, especially in the summer, can travel on buses that go directly to the resort or to Quintero and Ventana where they must transfer.
