The Museum of Contemporary Art, dependent on the Faculty of Arts of the University of Chile, was created in 1947. In its six decades of operation, the MAC has configured a collection of Chilean art of more than 2,000 pieces.
The most complete collections and important are those of painting, with about 600 works, the engraving, with almost a thousand copies and drawings, tempera, and watercolors, which brings together about 130 works.
The transitory exhibitions hosted by the MAC, have established it as the main stage for the dissemination of national and international contemporary art in the country and as a launching pad for young Chilean artists. Since 2005, the MAC has two heritage sites: MAC Parque Forestal and MAC Quinta Normal.
