Description

The tour begins with a hotel pick-up in Punta Arenas between 07:00 and 07:45. From there, you travel to the Tres Puentes terminal to take a ferry crossing the Strait of Magellan. The ferry ride lasts approximately two hours, arriving at Bahia Chilota on Tierra del Fuego Island around 11:30.

After disembarking, a 20-minute drive (about 5 kilometers) takes you to the city of Porvenir, one of Patagonia's southernmost towns. Here, you will explore Plaza de Armas, Plaza de los Selknams, the waterfront, the city viewpoint, and a small museum. Lunch follows at a local, reasonably priced restaurant accepting both cash and card payments.

Next, the journey continues for about 1.5 hours (114 km) to King Penguin Park near Bahía Inútil. On a marked trail, you can observe around 40 King Penguins. After an hour, the tour proceeds to visit the Estancia Josefina, an important historic site on the island, and the Cerro Sombrero oil town.

The return crossing of the Strait of Magellan is via its narrowest section, First Angostura, which takes about 20 minutes by ferry. Depending on the date and daylight hours, there may be a stop at the abandoned Estancia San Gregorio before returning to Punta Arenas between 21:00 and 23:00.
