Description
Day 1: Begin at 10:30 a.m. with a drive to the Uyuni Salt Flats. Visit the Train Graveyard on the outskirts of Uyuni, followed by Colchani, known for salt miners’ workshops and textile art made from llama and alpaca wool. Photo opportunities include crossing the salt flats and wading through the “Ojos de Agua Salada.” See the salt hotel, now a museum-restaurant, the Flags of the World monument, and the Dakar race monument.
Lunch is served en route. Afterward, hike to Incahuasi Island to see giant cacti and petrified coral rock formations. Take time for perspective-distorted photos on the salt flats. End the day watching the sunset over the salt flats with a glass of wine.
Accommodation: Atulcha Salt Hostel in a shared 6-bed room with shared toilets; no Wi-Fi available.
Day 2: Start at 6:30 a.m. with breakfast. Visit the Chiguana Desert on the south side of the salt flats, with views of nearby volcanoes including the active Ollagüe. Continue to Cañapa, Hedionda, and Chiarcota Lagoons to see flamingos.
After lunch, enter Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve. Visit the Siloli Desert and photograph the ‘Rock Tree’ lava formation. Stop at the Red Lagoon overlook to view flamingos and the vivid red lake.

Day 3: Depart around 5:00 a.m. to visit the Sol de Mañana Geyser featuring fumaroles and boiling mud pots. Bathe in an open-air hot spring with 35°C water. Visit the Dali Desert and Green and White Lagoons.
Return to Uyuni with a roadside picnic lunch, passing Rock Valley and stopping at San Cristobal Village for restroom break. Arrival in Uyuni is between 5:45 and 6:45 p.m.
