Depart from the village of Putre and begin a journey through Lauca National Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, guided by specialized local experts.

Make your first stop at the Las Cuevas Trail, a short hike to learn about local flora and ancient Andean hunter shelters. Then, move to the Chucuyo area, an ideal spot to observe wild flamingos in their natural lagoon. Next, head to the Cotacotani Lookout to admire the stunning volcanic lagoons below.

Reach the highlight of the tour: the Chungará Ranger Station Trail along the shores of majestic Lake Chungará. Take extra time to explore and capture the most iconic postcard view of the trip, with the Payachatas Volcanoes (Parinacota and Pomerape) reflecting on the water.

Afterward, visit the historic heritage village of Parinacota. Walk along its cobblestone streets featuring traditional altiplanic architecture and visit its 400-year-old church, a recognized National Monument. Then, drive alongside the Parinacota Wetland (Bofedal), a prime area for wildlife spotting, including a wide diversity of birds and both wild (vicuñas) and domesticated (llamas and alpacas) camelids.

To top off the day, head to Japucucho for a hearty traditional lunch at a local roadside restaurant hosted by Vicky. The menu features a warm soup starter followed by a main course with protein, rice, and local potatoes (typical Chilean, Bolivian, or Peruvian cuisine). Finally, drive back to Putre.
