Mate Workshop by AlSur Patagonia Enjoy an authentic and entertaining experience based on one of the most representative traditions of Patagonia: mate. In this workshop, you'll learn about its history, discover how to prepare it, and, most importantly, create and personalize your own mate gourd to take home as a souvenir of your trip. At the start, you'll be able to choose a semi-finished mate from different options and pick the rim you like the most. Then comes the creative part: you can paint and decorate your mate using the colors and designs you prefer, creating a unique and personal piece. You will also have the possibility to choose a personalized design for the ferrule, which will be laser engraved by our team. While you create your mate gourd, we'll invite you to discover the world behind this tradition. We'll talk about the origins of mate, its cultural significance, the different ways to prepare it, the types of yerba, and the customs associated with drinking it, especially in southern South America. Once the mate is finished, one of the most anticipated moments arrives: the tasting. You'll be able to select a variety of yerba, learn how to properly brew a mate, and take part in a small tasting to discover its different aromas, flavors, and intensities. To round off the experience, you'll have the opportunity to dress up in typical gaucho clothing and accessories and have your photo taken in a setting inspired by Patagonian culture. It will be an ideal time to relax, share, and take home a unique souvenir of the experience. And of course, your personalized mate is yours. At the end, you can take it home along with a complimentary mate straw, so that you can continue enjoying this tradition even after your trip. Important Information

• The activity is hands-on and takes approximately 2.5 hours. No previous experience is necessary; the instructor will accompany you throughout the process. The laser engraving of the ferrule is done exclusively by the workshop team. The design and customization of the mate gourd takes place during the experience. The experience includes a mate tasting; if you have any dietary restrictions or allergies, please let us know in advance.
