Description
Make the most of your time on Easter Island with a private full-day tour designed to bring together the essential highlights of Rapa Nui in one carefully planned journey. With a certified local guide and private transportation, explore iconic archaeological sites, impressive volcanic landscapes, and some of the island's most remarkable moai.
Your guide will pick you up directly from your accommodation to begin your journey across the island. Your first stop is Anakena, the famous white-sand beach where, according to Rapa Nui oral tradition, King Hotu Matu'a and the first Polynesian settlers arrived. Explore its archaeological sites and restored moai while discovering the story of the island's earliest settlement.
Continue to Te Pito Kura, where you will see Paro, the largest moai ever transported and erected on the island. Nearby, discover the remarkable rounded stone traditionally known as Te Pito o Te Henua, or the 'Navel of the World.'
At Papa Vaka, explore ancient petroglyphs depicting marine life and other motifs that reveal the close relationship between the Rapa Nui people and the ocean.
Next, experience Ahu Tongariki, the largest ceremonial platform on Rapa Nui. Take in the unforgettable sight of its fifteen restored moai before continuing to Rano Raraku, the volcanic quarry where nearly all of the island's moai were carved. Walk among statues in different stages of completion and learn how these extraordinary monuments were created and transported across the island.
Continue to Rano Kau, one of the island's most impressive volcanic craters, and enjoy its dramatic landscape before visiting the nearby ceremonial village of Orongo. Explore this spectacular clifftop site while learning about the Tangata Manu, or Birdman, tradition and an important chapter of Rapa Nui history that followed the era of the great moai.
Throughout the experience, enjoy the flexibility and personal attention of a private tour, with commentary adapted to your interests and time to appreciate each site. At the end of the tour, your guide will drive you back to your accommodation.
Ideal for first-time visitors and travelers with limited time on the island, this experience brings together the history, landscapes, moai, and essential archaeological sites of Rapa Nui in one unforgettable day.
