Description
Begin your adventure with a pickup in Santiago and head to the Cajón del Maipo. Follow a marked trail through cordilleran ravines up to the lake: a dark, deep body of glacial water held between rock walls that give it its name.
Hike 9 km round trip with 460 m of elevation gain, covered over a full day (8–10 hours) at a paced walk with stops for photos, hydration, and a snack. No technical experience is needed — just a moderate level of fitness. In winter, the route is done on snowshoes, with technical gear provided.
Go out in a group of no more than 8, with a guide born and raised in the Cajón del Maipo and certified IML, IRATA, and Pistero Socorrista. Enjoy local knowledge of the territory, brought to a professional standard.
