Description
This sightseeing tour invites us to discover one of the most fascinating landscapes in northern Chile. We begin our journey to the Chaxa Lagoon, located within the Los Flamencos National Reserve, a saline wetland that is part of the imposing Atacama Salt Flats, the third largest salt flat in the world and one of the main lithium reserves globally. There, it is possible to spot flamingos (Andean, James, Chilean) feeding among the salt crusts, in a unique setting where desert, water, and wildlife come together. We continue to the Tropic of Capricorn, a geographical point marking one of the most important parallels on the planet, and then arrive at the town of Toconao, a highland settlement built in liparite stone, known for its traditional architecture. We will walk around its main square and see its church made of adobe and cactus wood, declared a National Monument, a living testimony to the Atacama heritage. We'll end the visit in the Jerez Valley, a natural oasis surrounded by vegetation and rock formations that contrast with the arid surroundings. A short but complete tour, ideal for discovering the natural and cultural richness of the Atacama highlands.Includes
