Description
Located 20 kilometers from San Pedro de Atacama at 2,300 meters elevation, Cejar Lagoon lies in the Atacama Salt Flat surrounded by salt crystals. Its high salt and lithium concentrations make its waters denser and more buoyant than the Dead Sea. Nearby are the Ojos del Salar, two freshwater pools ideal for bathing.
The tour begins with hotel pickup in San Pedro de Atacama to visit several lagoons in the salt flat. First is Piedra Lagoon, a salty body of water where you can float due to its high salinity. Next is Cejar Lagoon, home to local flora and birdlife. Then visit the Ojos del Salar freshwater pools. The tour concludes with Tebenquiche Lagoon, a large lagoon perfect for a walking circuit. The trip ends with a cocktail in the desert before returning to your hotel.
