Description
Cerro Tronador is the highest mountain in Nahuel Huapi National Park, featuring three peaks across Chile, Argentina, and an international summit. From San Carlos de Bariloche, take National Route 258 toward El Bolsón, then Route 254 to reach Pampa Linda, a small village with a hostel, restaurant, campsite, park guard, and a Gendarmería Nacional station.
From Pampa Linda, several trails allow trips by foot or horseback, leading to noteworthy sights such as the Manso Glacier and the Negro snowdrift. These feed the Manso Superior River, which flows through the Vuriloches Valley into Lake Mascardi.
The Otto Meiling refuge, located at 2,000 meters, is the base for summiting Tronador (recommended for expert climbers only). Cerro Tronador reaches 3,450 meters and is named for the thunderous noise of ice detaching on its slopes. This tour includes roundtrip transportation to explore these surroundings.
