Hanga Roa


Hanga Roa es el único centro urbano que existe en la Isla de Pascua. Aquí se desarrollan las principales actividades sociales, económicas y culturales de Rapa Nui y donde residen casi todos sus habitantes.



Hanga Roa, que significa 'bahía ancha o bahía larga' en lengua rapanui, está ubicada geográficamente al suroeste de la isla, entre los volcanes Rano Kau y Maunga Terevaka. Hanga Roa sigue siendo el único núcleo habitado y la única ciudad de la Isla de Pascua, donde se concentra más del 90% de la población, que hoy supera los cinco mil habitantes.
