Eine fünfstündige Fahrt nördlich von Santiago befindet sich die Region Coquimbo und das nächste, was Chile an Strandresorts zu bieten hat. Hier finden Sie eine Reihe wunderschöner Strände zum Sonnenbaden und zum Genießen der kristallblauen Wasser. Seien Sie jedoch gewarnt - obwohl das Wasser einladend aussieht, bleiben sie aufgrund der pazifischen Strömungen das ganze Jahr über kalt.
 


Die malerische, geschützte Bucht von La Herradura ist ein beliebter Ort zum Spazierengehen und Sonnenbaden. Das Wasser ist das ganze Jahr über ruhig, sodass es ein sicherer Ort zum Schwimmen und für andere Wassersportarten ist. Weiter nördlich befindet sich der Strand Peñuelas, der für seinen Fischereihafen berühmt ist und ein großer Ort zum Tauchen ist.
 


Ebenfalls einen Besuch wert ist das kleine Strandstädtchen Totoralillo, das ein guter Ort für Anfänger-Surfer ist, um ins Wasser zu kommen. Die sanften Wellen sind perfekt für Anfänger und fortgeschrittene Fahrer sowie für Bodyboarder.
