Description
We'll start our tour on the way to the town of Pargua, south of Puerto Varas, where we'll board a ferry to sail through the Chacao Channel, which separates the mainland from the Big Island of Chiloé. During the trip, you'll be able to see sea lions, pelicans, and other sea birds endemic to the area.
We'll dock in the town of Chacao, where you can see typical constructions made of Alerce wood and also the San Antonio de Chacao church. Then, we'll continue our tour along the inland sea route, the western route of the island, which will take us to the town of Quemchi, where you can visit its beautiful Costanera, which the writer Francisco Coloane christened the commune of 1000 landscapes.
Later, we'll head to a wonderful place: Aucar, the Island of the Navigating Souls, which we can enter via a 430-meter wooden bridge. Later, we'll head to Dalcahue (a city located opposite Quinchao Island), which has a food and craft market on its waterfront with a spectacular view.
We'll visit the market and walk to the Church of Nuestra Señora De Los Dolores, a typical Chilota construction that's a World Heritage Site. Later, we'll continue our trip to the city of Castro, the capital of the Big Island of Chiloé. We'll stop to take pictures at the Palafitos (houses with pillars arranged over the water), and we'll visit the San Francisco Church in front of the city square and its Craft Market.
