Il fiume Maipo è vicino a Santiago, e le sue acque variano da grado 3 nella stagione autunno-inverno a grado 4 in primavera ed estate. Una volta lì potrete godere di una spettacolare vista sul vulcano Maipo, da dove origina questo fiume. All'inizio scorre tranquillamente, ma poi diventa un torrente mentre scende attraverso le valli fino a formare infine l'imponente e veloce fiume Maipo.
 
Queste condizioni garantiscono un'avventura estrema che inizia al Centro di Ecoturismo Cascada de las Ánimas e poi percorre 16 chilometri in discesa fino alla città di San José de Maipo, tra grandi rocce che riempiono il fiume stretto e creano rapide altamente complesse che rappresentano una sfida difficile per gli sportivi. Anche i principianti non sono esclusi dall'avventura, perché il Centro Cascada de las Ánimas ha professionisti di alto livello appositamente addestrati per accompagnare i partecipanti inesperti lungo le rapide e consentire loro di divertirsi come i più esperti marinai.
