Meksikossa perinteinen tapa syödä niitä on seistä ylös, pitää niitä yhdellä kädellä ja syöminen on rituaali: vie sauva suuhusi käyttäen vain peukaloasi ja ensimmäistä kolmea sormeasi; toisen ja kolmannen sormen on oltava yläpuolella; peukalon ja neljännen sormen alapuolella. Ensimäinen kaksi pitävät sauvan käärittynä, muut kaksi pitävät tasapainon. - Kallista hieman eteenpäin tuodessasi tacosi suuhusi estääksesi täytteen valumisen pois päästä. Silti ehkä yhden tai kahden puraisun jälkeen se alkaa valua toisesta päästä. Älä lannistu. Korjaa tilanne nostamalla tacosi 'häntää', jos se ei toimi, pure sitä päätä, josta täyte valuu ulos.
