The University of Liverpool Department of Modern Languages and Cultures is happy to announce the registrations for its international conference Memory and Representation in Latin America now open.
This is a virtual event and will take place online from 8 - 10th April 2021. It forms part of the AHRC-funded project Memory, Victims, and Representation of the Colombian Conflict, and is timed to commemorate Colombia’s ‘National Day of Memory and Solidarity with Victims’ on 9th April.
The conference will focus on themes of memorial practices, expectations of memory, memory, and space, identity narratives, and gendered concepts of heritage. There will be papers on a number of Latin American countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Haiti, and Mexico.
The thematic panels will include:
- Memory and digital heritage
- Memory and curation
- Memory and gender
- Memory and trauma
- Memory and the future
- Memory and artistic representations/creativity
The organizers of Memory and Representation in Latin America invite registrations from academics, practitioners, and anyone with a broad interest in the themes of conflict transformation, peacebuilding, and activities related to historical memory. We also look forward to welcoming persons with a strong interest in the human rights museums sector, including the Federation of International Human Rights Museums (FIHRM).
There will be simultaneous Spanish
English interpretation is available for each session.
