Inmitten des chilenischen Hochplateaus und weniger als eine Stunde von San Pedro de Atacama entfernt, befindet sich das private Naturschutzgebiet Puritama Heiße Quellen. Der Puritama-Fluss durchquert das Reservat entlang der Mitte einer Schlucht und bildet heiße Quellenpools auf 3.500 Metern über dem Meeresspiegel.



Diese heißen Quellen liegen inmitten einer Schlucht und werden seit Hunderten von Jahren genutzt. Die Wassertemperatur bleibt konstant bei 28° bis 31° Celsius mit einer wichtigen Konzentration von Mineralien, darunter sind Kalzium, Magnesium, Natrium und Bor. 8 Pools sind leicht über Holzstege erreichbar.
